    Hi guys. I have a cable bought as suggested by one of the admins. I am going to solder pins 7&8 but before I do I just wanted to confirm that I am doing the right pins. Pics as follows..


    There are no pin numbers this end of the connection so that was not much use.. the next pic though there are. I have marked in red where I think the 2 pins should be shorted. Is this correct?

    correct and it is numbered just end to end numbering hence 16 and 9,8 and 1 usually..

    Good to go for a pin short for cars <mid 2007. Anything above it will be D-CAN and an ethernet connection.

    ya wont get ignition or batt sensing but ya dont need that anyway unless ya wanna mess about with NCS EXPERT and ya fluent in all things german....

    since iam a novice on this subject,hope you dont mind me asking as it probably been asked many times before,i was going to buy the usb to obd2 cable and use my laptop which runs windows 7,would i also have to do the above or is this only for xp?

    Do you have Win7 64 bit os? if its 32 bit I can help you with the install
