    Hi All,

I have a '97 Z3 and am attempting to have a remote ignition alarm system (Python 881XP to be exact) installed into the car.

Can anyone advise if there are any issues hooking up the remote start into the car and if there are any ways around this as i desperatly want it in and need to find out asap if/how it can be done.

I have had the alarm installed recently but the installers have said they are unable to get the ignition to work as the engine would begin to crank but there wasnt enough 'power' (or something along those lines) to get it going...

    Any help/info is much appriciated.

    Thanks in advance

    Adrian

You have a coded key(there's a chip inside) that the ignition barrel must read before allowing the car to start, so I'd say that will be your main problem right there, you'd need to have the key in the ignition or have the chip near the pick up ring to use the remote start. And that would be a security issue.

You can buy a bypass module for the transponder chip in the key, this allows the car to still be immobilised. You will be able to get one from Clifford or Viper.
As for there not being enough power it sounds like the installer has not pick up his main live (+30) from a man enough point.
