    hi ,

    does anyone know where my cable would be to wire up a tow bar electrics kit, x5 , 2003 , and would it be a 7 or 13 pin ?

    On a X5 genuine tow bar kit you have to install a wiring loom from the rear up to the light control module, you also have to code the light control module otherwise it will not work correctly. If you have parking distance sensors you also have to code the module for this, otherwise it picks up what you are towing.

    The wiring loom has to be run along from the offside rear, along the offside door step area, past the b pillar, past the a pillar and upto the module. There are other wires/fuses that have to be joined in as well.
    All BMW's with light control modules have to be coded and have to have the wiring fed in.
