When I got into the car (2001 E39) this morning the front doors wouldnt unlock on the button and none of the controls on the drivers door would work, mirrors, windows or seat memory.

During the journey the drivers window and mirrors started working.

I've just got in the car now and the seat memory button will light but none of the memory buttons work.

I've not had chance to check for a loose connections yet but is there anything in particular I should be looking for?

First check is to inspect the wiring that passes from the vehicle body to the bootlid. The wires break and cause no end of problems.

Could be an issue with a module of some type if all is well in the rear but i'm afraid that I am not familiar with your particular vehicle

I think the bootlid wires are ok as the rear wiper, lights and power close are all ok.

Battery Perhaps Mick? Or some sort of alternator issue?

I am no means an expert but it is normally quite easy to test a bettery, isn't it?

Hope you get it sorted, Red!

I'm going to pull the battery for half an hour tonight to reset everything.

I dont think it's a battery / Alternator issue as all other systems function as normal.

Could be a fault on the module that controls central locking and windows???

You'll need a wiring schematic to see if yours also controls mirrors and seats?

Boostist may have access to one that he can forward on to you

I'm thinking that could be it. After having the battery off for half an hour it's no different.

It's also not isolated to the drivers door as the windows wont work from the other switches either.

If it's a fault wit that module it will show up on a diagnostic scan. I only know this because I had a power supply fault with mine, tried all sorts to find the fault. Turned out to be a dodgey fuse, it looked fine and the light tester indicated that it was okay but it had a tiny break in it which made it lose power...

When my new diagnostic scan tool turned up I put it straight on the coupe and the fault was stored on the ecu, cleared the codes and scanned again and the code had gone
