Hi, I've recently fitted an andrive head unit to my (last of the old shape) 2012 318 d msport touring. (similar to dynavin) A small problem with the unit meant i had to send it back for an update. I battled to remove my climate controls which are now slotted into the andrive unit. Didn't want to break anything so i left the controls in the unit and am sending away.

My question, in the interim, can i use controls from a 2008 e93 convertible. Just want aircon and demister etc to work while the unit is being sorted. At present when i start up without panel connected all vents are closed.

The panels look identical but just worried about recoding etc. Are all the control panels the same? Only diff i can see is button on older one says "rest"instead of "all".

Anyone? Thought this would be a fairly simple question.

might seem a daft question but if the plugs are the same why dont you just plug it in and try it
the panel would give you coding issues but as long as your not going to try and do any coding with it fitted it would not cause any problems
usually if the plugs are the same fitting it will work
plug shapes are changed to stop you fitting a part that is not compatible with your vehicle/wiring loom
