    Sure... bring it round

    It's just a coil that generates magnetism that yanks in a switch. Generally to isolate a low current carrying feed from a high current feed (e.g. a small window switch operates a relay which operates a big motor). A big power transistor can do the same job and that's often the way of things these days.

    If you have to ask about relays, stick to relays. A power transistor of the same current carrying capacity to a relay will cost the same or more BUT require more knowledge to use.

    Best we get this one closed aswell as we seem to be having a bit of a "relay" epidemic
