    Hi there,

I have just bought my self an E36 323i saloon, It has no MOT. I am trying to get it ready for its MOT and I have found that the Rear fog lights always seem to be on when the "side lights" are on and when the "main lights" are on, The front fogs turn on and off on demand as they should with the press of the button. However the button for the rear fog lights appears to be working as when I press it the dash light for the rear fog's appear and disappear as I press it on and off. I'm not sure if maybe the lights have been miss wired or that I am looking at the wrong section of the light. (The middle Section (small bulbs)).

Any help would be really appreciated as I really want to be able to drive this car on the road ASAP.

    Thanks.

    Karl.

if you can take the light out and give everything a good inpection.
if water has got in circuits could get corroded and short through a different circuit etc.

There are 2 rear sidelights, both 5w, and the fog should be a 21w on one side on your age.

The middle row on original BMW clusters should be side and fog / side / brake.

Aftermarket tend to have the brake lights on the outside.

Thanks everyone, I shall try clean it all out with some WD40, If the problem persists I have no idea what would be causing it. So the off side rear out side light should be fog light, the one with double fillament bulb? maybe from that it isnt my fogs that are on :s gotta love bmw wiring. :(

That's what I'm thinking, you just have your two sidelights on in each cluster, and the rear fog isn't coming on at all.
