Hi buys I have a bmw e92 320i , now the light control module failed a month ago now Iv been into bmw and got a list of cars the module fits that I need, bought a second hand one as there a fortune brand new and these are quite a common part, so fitted the part took it to be coddled in to a local bmw specialist, now there saying the module is not compatible , it's the same module as the original broken one that came of the car, am I going to have to buy a new one or is the garage wrong or something ? Please guys I'm pulling my hair out with the car please help cheers max

Even without coding the lcm should work fine but you will get a tamper dot on the cluster.
The reason behind coding it is that the lcm holds the cars mileage and vin number as does the cluster,so by coding you are syncing it to your car
by changing the mileage and vin to match your car.Ive done this coding myself on my e46 but maybe the e92 may be a different ballgame.
Are the part numbers the same on both lcms?

I went into bmw with my lcm original one and gave him the part number, he said it's changed part numbers about 5 times as it's such a common part on bmws , so the lcm should work without coding then? Could the one I bought be broken/faulty?

Yeah id try another if the part number it is exactly the same its the same unit so should work you might need it re-coding i remember going through all this years back when trying to fit oem facelift l.e.d rear lights it would show bulb out sign because the light worked on a different current i was told buy a new lcm get it coded or try and code your old one but each time the error was deleted on computer 10 mins later would come back so i sold the lights then a few months ago spoke to a mate selling some rear l.e.d's and he seemed to think you just needed the later lcm for the l.e.d rear so i sorted one plugged it in and everything worked normal happy days so my thinking would be do you have the right lcm some e90's have different headlamps i think thats why he probably said its not compatable

What is your exact problem? Is it not switching lights or showing an error on dash
