    Hi all
I've read billywhizz1984's excellent guide to sorting alarms and found that the big bank of wires in the middle of the alarm module wasn't even connected. When I connected them back up I got the flashing indicators every 30 seconds and my fob still doesn't work. I have a W-reg 318i cabrio (e36) so looks like it's a 3Gmk2 which (am I'm right in thinking that) means the back up battery is failing? Can anyone tell me how I tell for sure, where the back up battery is and what I need to replace it (and where I'd get it from)?! Thanks (also, went through the reset procedures with my fob that never worked in the first place and it still isn't working. Is the backup battery messing with it aswell?)

The backup battery on the later models is more resilient and will take a while to charge up again. The module is flashing the lights to tell you there has been an issue so that is correct. Have you checked the siren to see if it is connected?

You asked where it is and can it be replaced? The answer is in the guide under 3G Mk2 siren.
