    Hi all,

I have an E46 Compact and have seen on some cars, puddle lights that light up when the car is unlocked.

Do any BMW's have this feature and is it possible to retro fit these to my Compact?

If it is possible, is there anyone who has any information/pictures or wiring diagrams to show how to fit these.

    Thanks Matt

By puddle lights do you mean the lights at the bottom of the door car?
The quickest & convenient way to do it would be to take a feed from a footwell light as a trigger, wire it into a relay under the dash, then feed the output wires through the door connection point & to a cut out point under the door card. Parts can be picked up from the dealer for a full OEM conversion

    Hi thanks for the reply.

The type that I have seen (on my girlfriend's dad's car (Skoda)) are located under the wing mirror and when the car is unlocked these lights shine to show any puddles before you stand in them as you walk towards the car when going to get in. They apparently light up when the car is unlocked along with the interior mirror.

Thought they were cool and wondered if they can be fitted to BMW's and if any have them fitted as standard

Got you, they come as standard on the E92's and are located under the door handle.

Same principle, either cut into the wing mirror casing or under the door handle!
It'll be cheaper and simpler to use a standard high wattage (at least 15W Cree Q5/Osram chips) LED bulb, or if you wanted to go for the OEM look, then applying the E92 puddle light under the door handle.

    Would these be waterproof though?

Hi, my Series 1 118D has lights in the door handles, which shine to the floor. One light is faulty since a fuse replacement. I AM WONDERING IF THEY ARE SEPERATLY FUSED OR ALL ON THE SAME CIRCUIT.
