The engine warning light is lit on my 2010 120i, and a OBDII scan shows fault code P128E - Manufacturers specific code.
I have searched, and cannot find what this fault code relates to, can anyone help please?

I can't find any info on the name for that code, you might need to try and scan it with a better code reader that will give the BMW name.
It's likely to be a misfire, often from a coil pack, but you'd need to double check that first.

Thanks. Is it OK to delete the error code to see if it re-appears again, before booking it in for service?
I presume that if there is a fault, it would re-appear again?

Oh yes, you can delete it, and it'll come back if it is still an issue.

it could be one of three things that go wrong with that engine , coil, plug , injector , as bmw have revised the coils about six times and the injectors about 4 times i think

Well I deleted the error code, and it hasn't returned yet (but there is still time!!).
All 4 coil packs were replaced about 12 months ago, but that seems to mean nothing.

I'm surprised that the fault code isn't documented publicly, as EOBD was supposed to be an open protocol??

I was just doing some checks for an enquiry that came in, P128E is code "30E6" in the BMW system and is DME:Nitrogen-oxide sensor, dynamic response.

Since cancelling the code it has not returned (2 months ago), so hopefully it was just a glitch.
Thanks for the description though, it's good to know what it was.
