In getting to know my new 325 ti sport compact I discovered that the windows both go down on one touch but only the drivers side one goes up on one touch. Is that normal or is my switch knackered?

Its not normal no if I presume you are using the comfort open/close option with the key.
If you are using the switches on the console are you pulling up on the passenger switch hard enough?

Pull the switch up so that the window goes up, hold on to it up for 30 secs after the window is fully up. This re-codes the windows memory. Someone has disconnected the battery for some reason, and it forgets the windows comfort closeing. They must have reset one window but not the other.
For comfort opening, after you unlock with the fob, hold the unlock button and the windows should go down. For locking, hold the lock button after locking, and the windows should go up. Or do the same with the key in the door lock, but that does not set/unset the alarm.

I'll give that a bash when I get home, i've seen about different guides to setting these things up so hopefully this one will do the trick!

No amount of holding switches up is setting this thing to auto close so now I need to know what parts from a coupe i need to rob to get it working in the compact! Interestingly I pulled a switch from an e46 saloon and now my rear pop out window one touch opens ideally I would like one touch open and close on all four windows so the hunt for info begins

Not even my vert allows to raise all windows on one touch you have to hold the button that raises all 4 windows together they will all go down one touch using one button i think its a safety function to not allow this same as with the rear pop out windows in a coupe

the coupe operates on a completley differant system to you compact . you will at least need door motors , general module , switch pack , wireing . just to name a few bits
