Is it actually brighter, or lighter? The reason I ask it that usually your '02 model would come with clear indicator lenses, meaning you'll have orange bulbs inside. Over time these deteriorate and fade, often with cracking appearing on the bulb surface. I've just replaced both of my rears for this reason, as when they don't look quite as orange, they can appear brighter. Personally, wouldn't imagine it would be anything else as they will both be the same wattage bulb. 21w IIRC.

Havent had time to check yet but I know I got the bulb light up on the dash the other day then it went out when I used the indicator so it might be the bulb on its way out
