    Hi
Excuse me jumping straight in here without doing much diagnostics myself but someone here may know a common point and save me a lot of time.
1994 BMW 325i. Starter not turning and no power to the fuel pump fuse. Fuel pump ran when the RAC man put power on the fuse. Starter turned with the screwdriver across it.
Been having the off side sidelights/dash lights fuse blowing regularly so if there is no obvious common point I may have a small furry visitor from t' allotments eating my wiring.
    Regards, Nigel

Have a look at the wiring to the bootlid, these can wear and short circuit which gives lots of strange effects.

At last I have I've found time to start on the car. Found this which might explain why my tail light fuse keeps blowing although it was taped up and no obvious sign of any possible shorts.

Sounds like an immobiliser. Have you just removed an alarm or something?

All sorted. Despite me and the RAC man checking all the fuses, fuse 26 had blown. Still didn't start after replacing it but disconnecting the battery overnight cured the starting problem. So it looks like the immobiliser. Just need to sort out the mess of wiring into the boot lid. Think it's time to get a new car - I'm too old for all this. :-)
Thanks to both of you for your advice.
