BMW 320d 2000 plate
Just recently I am finding it very hard to start the car.
Put the key into the ignition and turn it and all the lights come on the dashboard, turn it further more to start the car and no sound at all dead as dead, It has a brand new battery, but it's not getting as far as turning the car over. Move the key back to pos 2 so the lights are on the dash, then turn it again and the car starts. Sometime this works straight away, the other day 3 hours to get the car started. It does seem to be more apparent when you lock the car with the fob and then open the car with the fob. Recently I've left the car open over night and although it starts it's very hit and miss.
Could this be a EWS I think it's call, a bad key or the immobilizer
1 : Left the car open over night
2 : Key in ignition to the lights - lights on the dash came on
3 : Extra turn car would not start - no sound, no nothing
4 : Turn the key back to lights on dashboard
5 : repeat step 3 - car fires
6 : get to work turn the car off, and then straight back on works every time
7 : go out at dinner time same as this morning but took 6 attempts to start the car.
I have took the key off the keyring and banged the key on the steering wheel,,Dont know if that helps but it did start the car after the 3 hours.
Cheers all, any help will be great....
Dont know if this helps guys but every now and again the blowers cuts out but a new hedgehog has been put in by BMW themselves, Also I get the oil light on for 10 secs after the car has been running for some 20 secs - I believe that is a common fault IE Oil Level Sensor. The Two above has been issues thought before the main problem - Could it be the case the the Oil Level Sender now is completely caput and the car checks the oil level before it will start the car? - and by turning the key 3 or 4 times is building up the pressure? seems strange it took 3 hours two days ago to start if that's the case.
