Does anyone know if it is possible to get rid of the immobiliser?
The engine is currently sitting in my speed boat, but wont start because it is immobilised... I bought the engine off ebay. Oh, and its out of an N reg.
    Thanks for any help!

You could get an EWS box and key chip, and wire that to the ECU, and sync it so it will work.

I don't think you can remove the immobilser on that ECU, but you could swap to an older ECU without the immobiliser.

Yea, they just copy the existing EWS kit in a single board, and then you hide it inside the ECU.

the EWS (immobiliser) wants to see the chip id code emedded in the original key for the car, the signal is sent from the key to an antenna ring (positioned on the ignition barrel) to the EWS which verifies it and sends a digital signal to the engine ECU to allow it to start and run..

in idiot terms if your engine ECU is immobilised its awaiting the key chip ID signal from the EWS" module to allow it to unlock the system..

thats how EWS2 works which was phased in in 1995, EWS1 dosent work like that and is more dinosaur technology..

as END sez if you buy a complete kit ECU, EWS module and antenna and key you just wire it up to ya engine and your away, or just buy the EWS module and key etc and get it programmed to your existing ECU..
