I have a 1999 323i Touring, it's in good nick for it's age, but when I bought the car, I noticed that I can only lock the car all round, from the drivers lock only, when I unlock the boot, all the doors unlock, when I push down the drivers door lock from inside the car via the push and pull pin all the doors lock and unlock, but say I try to lock the car again from the passengers door or the boot, it only locks either the boot or the passenger door, depending which one I try.
Is this the way the car is meant to operate, surely it should lock all, from whatever door or lock I put the key into.

Also am I meant to have a fob for unlocking and locking, I notice I have an alarm siren, under the bonnet, but do not know how to operate it.

Any help on this would be great......In advance, thank you.

Re the alarm and fobs find BillyWhizz1984 alarm identification guide and it will help you identify, and find / program fobs to match

If you get that sorted you don;t need to worry about the doors or boot whish sounds like dodgy microswitches or missinf ones passenger side

alot of cars are made like this where the drivers door is the master . and the others are slaves .
i dont know wether this is the same for your car but the way you describe the operation ,then that is the correct procedure .
does it not have remote central locking ?
this can be added very cheaply

I don't know as I have never had a fob for it, but like I said in my op, if i press down and pull up the door loclk pin then all doors open and close.

Will be looking into this soon, so just trying to gather up needed info.

Your key should have lock / unlock and boot release built in, if not it's either a clone or the 'valet' key which came with the car when new.

You just need to get a proper key and have it programmed for the car - not cheap though!
