Hi - I picked up my 2004 530d on saturday and had an after market towbar fitted today, just popped out to put the car in the garage and had the warning message to say HIGH DRAIN BATTERY USAGE. I am assuming the is a connect here, has anyone come accross this before, and how could I resolve this.

    Any help gatey appreciated.

in my 2001 320d i have box fitted beside my battery in the boot and the wires from the tow hitch go into this box which has two wires a black and red to go to the battery terminals.basically what im trying to say is that in my car there is a special bmw junction box especially for the towhitch wiring as you cant just wire the hitch plug directly to the light cluster.sumtin to do with the blown bulb warning on the dash.this box is about the size of two 20 packs of ciggies side by side with a red led to tell you its working and a inline fuse between it and the positive terminal on the battery.it looks to me that you are wired direct and thats drawing from your battery sumhow.i could be wrong on this as this box was allready installed in my car when i bought it,so im open to correction on my reply to you charmer.also have you checked to see if any lights remain on even after you turn off the car.the tail lights on my trailer stay on until i lock the car with the remote.

    Hi,

Did you managed to get to the root cause of this issue ?

What make of towbar / electrics did you get ?

    Thanks
