    Coupe electric window fault! ha!

i have read through other posts/web and tried a few things maybe if i explain my problem someone hopefully maybe able to pinpoint the solution.

Bought a M reg 95 316i coupe last week both windows were not working at the time (did not ask if both went at the same time etc lad i bought it off thought/said it was motors) but the driver side did go the cm up/down when opend/closed which it no longer does. ive been thier done that with the up down, up down and the window coming off the rollers n stuff but this is a new one for me. ill try and put it simple.

1 - both windows not working (no sunroof)
2 - both windows not moving the cm up/down
3 - can hear both motors clicking when pushing both the switch in the door and the interior window switches (take this time to say my driver window did go down and after a bit of hassle went back up again yesterday after a short drive?)
4 - checked all fuses which are fine
5 - swapped the left/right switches round blew down them no difference
6 - took out plug on motor give it a blow etc etc no joy
7 - went a bit aggresive manually moving the window up and down give a few knocks here and there on motor etc gettin desperate now.
8 - took the comfort relay out located left of steering wheel sky blue clolour, examined cleaned and resolderd with no joy (probably sound like a doughnut but im sure it was the correct thing it had ABS written on it though and couldnt see anything else that may of been it)

So im thinking as the window did go down/up yesterday the driver motor must be fine? any help/suggestions will be appreciated didnt pay much for the car as its something my girlfriend can learn to drive in so dont want to pay £££ but at the same time the windows need to be working. thanks in advance.

You need to use a test light and see if you have power at the motor plug when you press the button for the window, if yes then you need a new motor

You can use a 12 volt bulb, or go to Tescos and buy a test light, they sell them in there! ..........

You can also connecting a wire to the negative post of the battery and another wire to the positive and try probing the motor plug terminals, DON'T SHORT THEM OUT! the window should go up or down when the wires are connected to the motor plug, IIRC there are only 2 wires.
