1996 318ti. Both electric windows have stopped working (both closed fortunately!) . I don't understand it, they were fine earlier on. The electric mirrors are fine, as is the electric sunroof. Huh? WTF??? The fact that they've both stopped indicates to me that it's not burnt out motors, correct? Is it just gonna be a fuse? I woulda thought that the sunroof woulda been on the same ring as the windows.

    Any answers very gratefully received!

    Sunroof is on seperate fuse.

Sounds highly likely that this is your problem. Definately the first check to do

That's quite annoying. I just went and opened the fuse box, which is full of fuses, but has no diagram to tell you which number of fuse is where. There is no such diagram in the owner's manual either.

Whenever I get something that's not working ? I always check every single fuse. Reason being is that sometimes the sticker on the fusebox lid that lists the correct amperage fuse and the fuse slot position isn't always correct. Probably due to a number of reasons.

Also sometimes you find a fuse that's blown and not even know that it's gone.

The best way to check fuses is to use a light tester on both sides of the fuse. You can purchase these from most motor factors and I find them a great help.

I actually found the fuse RYM. Oddly, it was a 25 amp, but the list on the inside of the fuse box cover said it should be a 30 amp. In any case, I've replaced it with a 30 amp and all is well again. Yay! Cheers for your input, mate.
