2003 5-Series, but it could be anything of a similar age.

A wire has broken where it joins on to the plastic connector block which a relay plugs into. I need to remove the metal female end from inside the plastic connector block in order to re-fit it to the end of the wire. Presumably there is a metal tag (or possibly 2 tags) which I need to depress in order to release it, so I need to poke something into the connector block while pulling/pushing the metal end at the same time? Obviously a fiddly job, but does anybody have any tips?

Thanks for the replies. I tried for an hour or more with bits of wire, hairgrips, tiny screwdrivers etc. In the end I cut out the section of the plastic connector block with a junior hacksaw to make room for a new Lucar connector.

And now the rear self levelling suspension suspension works again on my E39 530d Touring.
