I am having a lot of trouble with my fuel pump. I can't seem to find anyone who has had the same problem.
I tried to start my car one day and it came on for a few seconds then died. The fuel pump fuse had blown, so I pulled the connector to the pump off and put in a new fuse to see if the wire had a short. The fuse did not blow, but when I put the connector back on and restarted again it promptly blew. It blows as soon as I turn the key just before cranking the motor. I ordered another fuel pump and installed it, started the car and drove about 60 miles. I parked for the night and the next day when I went to start it back up, the fuse blew. I tested 4 more fuses after that and even switched the relay out with an identical and it still blew.

I have another fuel pump and relay on the way. This time I can test a new relay with a new fuel pump and see if that was causing the problem.
I'll also include that it was raining outside both times just before I started the car.

Has anyone had this problem? I am going on leave in a week and really need to figure this out before my 900 mile drive, any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Justin

We had a X5 3.0D come into our workshop with the exact same symptoms. it turned out to be the fuel filter had a slight blockage which caused the fuel pump fuse to blow

I'd also look for blockage somewhere as the pump may well be drawing too much current in an attempt to shift fuel = blowing the fuse.
