Ok, Basically, I've been asking around, but to no success yet..

My 318is is a 94 model, and I think it has EWS I on it, and I have done a conversion to a 325i, which was a 92 model without EWS..it has a 413 DME. But I think the immobilizer in the 94 model (where the 325 engine now is) isnt playing ball with the new engine...

The car Cranks over, but doesn't fire...It has no Spark and the Fuel pump doesn't prime...

Main question is how can I fix this or bypass the EWS? and get my car going again?..Kinda stuck at the moment as I was meant to be using it for work this week but having to get lifts in..

This isn't an auto/manual conversion either way is it?

If your car has an OBC fitted unplug it and try to start the car. It has been known for the OBC Code function to send a signal to the DME in error. It is a long shot but free and easy to try.

As a 1994 with EWS I your car has the Starter Immobilisation Relay but this is clearly getting a signal as the engine in turning over. In turn it sends a positive voltage to the DME at pin 15 to immobilise or no voltage means mobilise. There should then be an output from pin 52 to the fuel pump and pin 55 to the DME relay.

    Check these & report back.

Ok.. I had 0.03 Voltage at pin 15... but pin 52 was sending a live into the ECU with the ignition on....nothing going in on pin 55 but didnt check coming out..didn't know what colour wire to splice into and didn't have time to take the plug apart...

    On the X20 Plug I have power at pins 16, 21, 22 and 25.

Speaking to TheEnd from endtuning, My car doesn't have EWS, and it would stop the starter if it did...he suggested connections wrong on the X20 Plug? But I thought it was a straight swap plug and play?...

EWS I came in Jan 1994 so if your car was manufactured after this date it should have it. What is the manufacture date in the plaque on the the O/S suspension strut?

ok it didn't say on the strut but it's after 94... and there's still no spark, but I can get fuel up and powered by putting a live at pin 13 on the x20 plug which is the fuel pump one, it doesn't have a live itself as it should.....and the DME pin 21 has a live on ignition one.........but still no spark?...

Theer is also a live on ignition up at one of the pins on each of the spark plug connectors...

The x20 connector has two big green wires on my car but only one on the x20 connector from the car it came out of...other than that the plugs are pretty much the same...

Been scouring the net again, and read up that if the crank sensor is bad it won't send a signal to the DME to power the relay and make sparks and fuel! :o...Gonna rip that outta my old engine tomorrow I think...may have dislodged it during transfer...

anyone? I've tried practically everything now, including the pin 66 on the 413 DME, snipped a wire going into the x20...bridging wires, im pullin my hair out, if Anyone can come have a go I will pay upto 150 quid if you can get it running again. all advise is welcome too!....

No Spark, Has ignition live at the coils. and the white ECU relay? has two lives going into it on ignition.

No Fuel - Can get fuel by putting a live to pin 13 at the x20, it's spark i'm more bothered about atm...

Motor Cranks over...Doesn't show any RPM's on the dials while doing so..
