Thanks M3 Euro LTW and Steve,

You were both very useful, I'm going to go with taping the key to the receiver ring, plus it's a good immobiliser

Now I have to find the DME, I think I'll just cut as many boxes off of the 328i's loom as possible and save them till the rewire.

What is the EWS connected to in the engine bay cant I just remove that bit and put a part on that doesn't have the EWS fitted from another BMW.

The EWS is not connected under the engine bay. Its the module behind the glovebox. The problem im having is that if the EWS has been removed, there is no signal to the DME and the car wont fire. You can bypass it so the engine will crank, but it wont spark...

Ive been sctratching my head over this all week.....

I got a mate Vince who was on RAF Brize and was a wiring guru, there wasnt anything he couldn't do to a vehcile's wiring, he did all my motorbikes when In was swopping motors to different ones, he did peoples kit cars too.

He got posted to hampshire a few years back and moved away, I was trying to track him down through a RAF mate a while back, and found out that he left the RAF recently and has emergrated to Oz, but his mate Hodge is still around and should be able to do things, I'll track him down, he'll probally have some better ideas.

Steve if I find him and he's intrested do you want his number, he may be able to help.

I work all over as I'm a self employed plumber, I'm in Carterton.
I lived in Marston and by the regal off of cowley road in the 80's.

Im just outside the city now in Wheatley....
I know cowley road well, it used to be our old stomping ground, used to be regulars at the Bullingdon Arms and a good mate of mine lived on Howard street...

I know Carterton as well, used to work at Brize Norton Garage when it was Nissan....
