    Hi everyone

I have purchased a new ecu,cas and ews+key for my car which is a salvage 120i. It had a problem with the CAS and no key and i thought it would be cheaper to buy all these 3 from ebay than BMW direct with the original VIN no encoded to the parts.
The car just wond crank/fire up and no ignition comes up on INPA. SO ive tried to sync dme-cas dme-ews in the DME options.

However, I'm having problems trying to sync dme to cas.
unfortunately i get no response errors when i try....and i can't make out the end results because they are in german.... The DME kit is warranted to work but i dont know what the problem is.
It could be a problem with the version of inpa i have. When i log into the CAS it comes up as an older version installed than the CAS was last used? with. Has anyone else had such a problem?? Should this be a problem or the reason why it won't sync?

Now also i want to invite opinions on what to do.......
Basically because my car has had a new ECU, CAS EWS and key. All these are from a different car and have a different vin no. than my cars original VIN.
I'm assuming i will have to code the new VIN to the rest of the modules.
    How do i do this?
I have SSS and Dis installed but have never used the programs and don't want to mess anything up.
Should i encode the new ECU CAS with my original VIN or the new VIN to the rest of the modules in my car?

    any help is appreciated.
    thanks!

    hi
thanks for the reply and sorry for being so late to get back to you.
i have had the car at the garage now. apparently because i have the whole ews kit-key cas and dme i dont need to do any coding to fire up the engine
the problem is that when the key is inserted and start button is pressed - only the handbrake and airbag lights come up on dash/speedo. the car does not go beyond anything else ( next stage w ould be all the lights on speedo- then start) i do not know what the problem is. ive been told it could be wiring or the CAS unit but i bought the ews kit from a reputable german ebay shop.
Any ideas, and no i bought the car missing the cas, it was cheaper for e to buy the ews kit than cas and key from BMW direct for the car.
so i never saw the car running as it was like this. The wiring APPEARS to be okay- but could it be fuses?
As you are a shop-would you be able to check whether my ews kit is ok-- if not i may have to pursue a refund and start again!

    Thank you

you have to ask why was the cas unit missing in the 1st place?
We have seen many cars brought to us with keys cas missing because the engine, gear box are damaged
    Or even water damaged cars

If the cas is missing the 1 thing would be to buy a new one from BMW parts then code it to the car with the correct kit not a eBay copy which can make more problems and cost you more time and money in the long run

Buying second hand parts from another car is not the write thing to do as it will have the wrong coding as well as software in it
This will need to be wiped and programmed correctly to the car 1st but it may still not start if there is some other problem with the car

Is the car fitted with a auto gear box

The car was being being stripped down by the company which eventually sold it. Luckily the dme was present but cas and key had been sold off.
i purchased a matching dme, cas and key from a german ebay company and it was from a 120i- all the part no.s match up perfectly with the original part no.s

buying the cas and key was quite expensive and that is why i purchased the cas and key and dme together.
I've been told no programming is needed to fire up the car now but the problem may be in wiring, the cas itself, fuses etc.
How can i check whether this cas works properly. i think tthe error was a 'key hall error'
the cas does perform all its usual functions like running idrive, radio/cd, windows, central locking sat nav etc,
