    Hi Guys,

My tailgate will only open on my 54 reg E61 if I use the button on the key. However I had a look at the wiring in the rear of the car, where the first aid kit lives. There is a single wire which seems to not connect to anything and it seems it has come loose from a circuit box. Could a single wire lead to the problems I have described?

Can any leccy be kind enough to supply an email address so I can forward a photo of the wire in question for their advise please?

    Thanks,

    Have a nice weekend people.

It is a very common problem with the E61, the wires break in the joint to the roof, mine has no rear heated window, no rear screen wipe and the glass won't open. I job for the weekend, there are multiple guides on this and other forums to assist you. Kwempe one of the forum memver did a good one, just use the search in the top right to find it.

Horribly expensive dealer job, the BMW repair kit is £400 and fitting is £600. A good anto electrician should be able to repair for 3-4 hours labour
