Hi, both my key fobs suddenly stopped locking/unlocking my e61 2005 yesterday - its had very weak signal since I bought the car earlier this year. I've read across a lot of posts finding it likely be either water ingress in the diversity amplifier or breakage in the wiring loom.

However before I undertake any diagnosis, does anyone know if a dead fuse could cause this? If so, which fuse would it be?

sounds like there is water in the rear aerial amp , you need to remove the rear spoiler on the rear glass , to do this , just open the rear glass in the tail gate , you will see 4 rubber grommets at the base of the glass , pop them out and remove the torque screws , i think they are a t30 or t 35 . once they are out , i like to roll the catch to stop the glass closeing , but thats just my preferance . close the glass on to the rolled catch , then with the glass down pull the rear spoiler to the rear of the car , it can be a little tight but just pull it untill it comes off its locating lugs , carefully lift the spoiler up and disconect the washer pipe , then you will see the rear spoiler brake light connection going in to a black box , open the lid and carfully remove the brake light connector , you can now remove the spoiler all together now , you will now see the rear aerial amp , disconnect all connectors , remove the two 8mm nuts , and now with the control unit in your hand remove the plastic caseing , you might see traces of water on the PCB this will look like white staining , if there is any traces of water replace the aerial amp , and then you have to get some sealer and seal the box so no water gets in . if there is no water in there , i will tell you how to check the wireing . and power supples and earths .
