Hi, the thread title pretty much describes the problem. The car starts fine but just after it starts the boot window unlocks and therefore the interior lights come on. It also happens after a drive when you close the boot lid.
V annoying! BMW say it is caused by aftermarket tow bar wiring - wrong as I have disconnected the loom and it still happens.
The idrive screen sometimes but not always displays a message - increased battery discharge.

The battery is showing 12.5 on a meter about 2 hours after a 40 mile drive. Should this be nearer 13.5 - 14 volts?

    Any ideas??

Most likley caused by one of two things, either the little switch in the wiper assembly has got water in it and is short circuiting which is cheap and easy to fix but do just buy a new switch or the wiring loom to the glass has broken which was common on older E61 but had sort of been fixed by 2010.

Any form of door lock fault will stop the car "going to sleep" which drain the battery and causes the messages on iDrive, you will probably get the "Radio 4 News" bings as well after about 4 minute of driving.

I would get the switch changed first and then look at the loom seconds

Hi, that sounds very logical, particularly with the recent heavy weather, I'll run that past the dealer who didn't find it while under guarantee!

Sorted - BMW have replaced the boot glass lock/switch and it seems to be fine. I hope that time will confirm this!

    Thanks for the help.
