    Hello folks

I have a compact 318ti keeps cutting out on occasion, any gear any rpm. battery lights flashes for less than a second and engine cuts then back to life and drives well, then same issue.

The battery is new, alternator checked ok.

Unable to diagnose as no fault code reported.

BMW specialist unable to identify the issue. The cam sensors connectors have been cleaned etc still same issue. happens at least once to twice on a good run, either short or long distance, some days is perfect then next day same issue again, please help.

Please could you advise and support me guys to fix this issue.

    Hi Mark

How much is this likely to be fitted? do you supply at quarry refurbished etc?

How do i know or can test if this crank sensor if the required part? is it the one located at the bottom of the engine?

    Cheers

unfortunately because of the nature of the problem its very hard to test the sensor it would require driving the vehicle until it cuts out with an oscilloscope or diagnostic tester connected to the vehicle, i recommend fitting only new dealer parts for this job as to access the sensor we have to remove the inlet manifold which takes around 2 hours for an experienced mechanic if your doing it yourself allow considerably more
if you would like a quote for the job ring me at quarry motors between 9.00am to 4.30 pm weekdays and we will be more than happy to help you out
