Hi all, i have an e46 coupe, i am assuming the brake wear sensor wiring is the same along all revisions of this type but if not the car was built in 06/2000 and it is a 318Ci.

The problem i have is that the wiring has been ripped out by the previous owner completely for the brake wear wiring on the rear of the car and because this has left the circuit open i now have a stupid little yellow light on my dash telling me i need new brakes when they are obviously fine.

Now. im thinking for the time being, if i can locate where the wires end up, maybe at a control unit or somewhere by the DME maybe? then i can just short the appropriate wires to reset the indicator. And my question is, where does the wiring harness end up and how much of a pain is it going to be to get to?

    Much appreciate the help given.

    Regards, Don.

Why not just replace the sensor? The rear one runs under the car near the door sill and plugs into a junction box together with the ABS connector. Probably take you less then 5 mins to do.

Very unfortunate because the wiring from that junction box goes straight to the instrument cluster.

Saying that, the wiring from the rear sensor could end up in the front sensor junction box where they then pair off to the instrument cluster. Worth a check
