Hey, as above, my 330d msport goes to MOT tonight and i've just noticed that one of the rear plate lights has stopped working. Further investigation reveals a lot of corrosion so I was hoping to put bulb holder from a Ford into it, just to get it through MOT tonight (a local breaker has promised to get me the proper replacement on Monday)

When i take apart the handle housing thing, I see there are four wires going to the bulb carrier, whereas the bulb holder I intend to temporarily fit only has two wires going to it, can anyone advise me if my plan is viable, and also which two wires to use?

    Thanks in Advance!

    Jonto

oh you were lucky mate, mine has corroded to the point where the two prongs that hold the bulb have fallen off! its strange tbh because the other side is fine, and theres no sign of tampering, damaged seals etc on the faulty side!

You got to think how old those contacts are over the years they will rot best using some wd40 though to displace any future water infact im giong to give mine a little squirt this weekend as one of mine is also close to rotting away

You could soldier two pieces of metal back to the wires should work to connect bulb

hmm thats possible actually, although it looks like the whole unit is done tbh, the copper track is crumbling and theres so much corrosion round the end of the wires that its almost impossible to tell where they go! any idea why each unit has 4 wires going to it?

Ah yeah, I meant 4 wires to each bulb though, but i got it working, just paired the 4 wires into 2 and then attached the bulb holder

    Were they originally paired together?
