Just considering wiring some LED indicators into my standard January 2001 E46 convertible. The new indicators are on wing mirrors, am planning to wire them straight into the existing side indicator wiring.

Question - will the computer need re-flashed to cope with these? Will it cope ok without? Will it cope at all...

    Cheers!

    Tony

Most likely need to have the Light Control Module recoded, it will pick up the difference in resistance and flag up a fault.

Cheers guys - is that a job for a BMW garage I take it? Or are there non-franchise types wot can do it?

And once it's done, will LED rear lights be able to fitted?

A garage with Autologic or GT1 machines will be able to do it. As for rear LED lights, I think your model year needs a new LCM. Not sure it is programmable on your current one.

    Hi guys,

Before fitting the wing units on, I connected their wiring to the side indicator and they worked fine :o)

Now, problem... How do I run some wires from the door into the side and connect to that indicator wiring? Fine as far as taking door trim off and so on goes, less fine with where to route the wires so they're out of harm's way!

    Cheers,

    Tony
