    Hi,

On a 320D M Sport I'm looking to buy the airbag light is constantly lit. This is when my wife is in and out of the passenger seat. Someone said this was a common problem and can easily be fixed?

Is this true... what will I have to do to fix it?

    Cheers

True.............this is a common problem. Most E46's and other beemers that come in suffer from this. The pressure sensor under the passenger seat always fail and cause the light to come on. Don't let this put you off buying the car...............is an easy fix. A scan of the codes will confirm which sensor is at fault.

Could also be the steering wheel squib, seen it before, but as said correctly by Slacker you need to get the codes read as it's the only way to really know

but worth pointing out to the sales man on his car?

As a point to bargain over? Would it cost much for me to put right at a local garage?

    Cheers

It depends on what the codes say.
Could just be a bad connection like mine was.

    Do most garages read codes?

How much money is it to have them plug their computer in and read them?

    Cheers

Find a good BMW independent or even a good independent that can read them for you, best to have a ring around before hand asking if they can do it and how much

May even be worthwhile trying Kwik fit, just don't get them to do any work

Make sure you get a print out or copy of the codes and post them here and then we can help you further

My work sometimes doesn't even charge for quickly reading the codes , but mostly it's really cheap.
