    Hey guys,

Firstly, thanks to everyone for what I've learnt here so far! I'm new to BMWs and have found this forum amazingly useful.
My new problem is the following:

I've retrofitted a 2003 spec multi function steering wheel (MFSW) to my '99 318i E46. The problem is, none of the buttons work or illuminate, however the horn does work.

Here's what I've done so far:
    1. Disconnect battery and wait a while (half an hour)
    2. Remove airbag and steering wheel (old 3 spoke with no MFSW)
    3. Put on MFSW (from a 2003 e46) and connect the 2 plugs
    4. Connect airbag and push into wheel

That's it... I wasn't expecting the cruise control to work as I haven't fitted the cable for it (part # 61120016012), but I was expecting the radio controls to work with my BMW Business CD and the buttons to illuminate when the lights are on.

I took it apart again to double-check the plugs were in tightly, but still no good.

I had heard it might be the slip-ring, but I thought the horn wouldn't work if that was the case??

It's driving me nuts... Please help!!!

Its been a while since I did my MFSW work but I seem to recall the wiring changed post-99.
Have you checked how the wire colours correspond between the new wheel and the original loom?
