Problem began about 2 weeks ago, when the fault indicator on the dash showed that front nearside sidelight was out, however, on checking, I saw that it was in fact, the front offside that was out.
After removing the sidelight cover, checked the bulb and it was OK. I saw then that the indicator and sidelight actually shared the same bulb, only 2 wires leading to the light.
Checked indicator which worked OK, but sidelight would not .

A few days later, driving along when suddenly the nearside indicator began flashing, both front and rear, whilst the indicator stalk was set for no signal.
Selecting left turn, flashes OK. But when cancelled, it continues to flash.
Select right turn, the signal flashes correctly, on the offside, but when cancelled, the nearside immediately starts flashing again.

Hazards work OK.

Any suggestions as to where to start checking ?

maybe your light control module is on the way out.that thing has everything to do with your lights and when that goes faulty it makes lights go crazy.
