Car just failed MOT on ABS light not appearing. Plenty of threads on ABS coming on when it shouldn't but can't find any on this (also forum search doesn't recognise the term ABS). Have checked fuses 17 and 30 and both intact. Bought car 3 months back (private sale)and can't recall if it was ever on. Any ideas where to check first or do i need an OBD scan? Thanks Dave

I would check to see if the bulb has been removed to hide the light, and find out the cause.
Most likely it'll be a wheel sensor, but maybe it was something a bit more tricky, hence the sneaky hiding...

Thanks TheEnd. Was about to take instrument panel out but thought I'd double check fuses first. Turned out the fuse that looked pefect wasn't, although wire still seems connected on both ends! If only all failures were that simple!
Light now comes on at startup, although ignition has to be turned off for some seconds for it to come on again when restarting. Doesn't come on if ignition turned off then turned back on again straightaway. I'm assuming this is normal?

It might have a keep alive function when it needs 10-15 secs to actually turn off before it goes through the self test again
