I have a 1999 528i Touring, for many years it has not missed a heart beat, eating up the milage (148K to date) and costing me an average of £50 each MOT. So please understand my frustration when driving to work this morning and being 'entertained' by a constant 'pinging' of the nearside front door showing open and the interior courtesy light coming on with each bump in the road, each turn and each time I used the brakes....it is a mystery. Now to add to the already irritating issues with my car, the alarm just starts going off while parked on the flat, in a secure car park, away from any other cars and/or disturbances.
I have an excellent chap who works on my car (Andrew at BMTech, Manchester), so any words of advice from anyone out there before I take it in and the vein on the side of my head pops, would be greatly appreciated.
I have checked the lock, all connection and seals are the same all around the car and yet it seems to think the passenger front door is open.

    Regards
    Ian

I would guess your door pin switch needs replacing, or the wiring to that needs checking. It would explain all of those symptoms.
They usually look something like this:

But vary slightly on different cars.
