Hi just bought a 525d and the parking sensors aren't working. When I press the button no light comes on. Any ideas? Thanks Andy

i thought that disabled it (or enabled the front sensors if fitted) the act of putting it in reverse should at least activate the rear parktronic...

has it got front sensors? if it hasnt i think youve bought a car thats had a front valance fitted off a car that didnt have it, or a console off another car or summat...

As far as I know the face lift brought with it front and back sensors as standard. The pdc button is for disabling the sensors. Since u say there is no led lighting on the button I assume a fuse may have blown. If my memory serves me right i once heard a story where one of the sensors was blown and kept causing the system fuse to blow. The guy fault found by disconnecting each sensor and putting one on at a time to see if it blew a fuse. Hope this helps.

On a e39 the PDC is activated by putting the car into reverse, the LED on the PDC button will illuminate to indicate the system is active, you can also turn the system on by pushing the PDC button. The system is turned of when you move above a certain speed or you push the PDC button and the LED turns off. Both front and rear sensors are active at the same time...well that's how it should work.

If a fault is detected the LED will flash and you will hear a long tone when you push the button or put the car in R...as you have no LED suggests the system is not working at all. Check the power supply fuses etc and the connections to the PDC module, its a white box in behind the one of the boot liners
