Is there anyone in the Sheffield/Chesterfield area that has a fault code reader that would be happy to come to my place of work (S41 9EY) to check the fault codes on my 1998 328i? Preff today?!
I have had my head gasket cracked and currently down here now trying to bleed the cooling system using a vacuum type of afair to then put the water in the system... but not having much luck as there is a leak at the thermostat housing.
But, I was wondering as when I turn the ignition on there is no engine warning light?! and I found a few little bulbs in the boot.. So I am wondering if the engine light was on when i got the car and the buld was removed?
I am starting to hate this car now as from it being much fun and a joy to drive and now this over heating problem which just seems to be a load of never ending issues even after replacing a cracked head! :(
The other reason I want to check the fault codes is because: I fitted the M50 inlet manifold too and I also think there is an air leak as it randomly cuts out - I found one that was not allowing it to start up - I think its either coming from the TB as we bodged a gasket together or - on the back inside of the inlet where some thing plugs in and a pipe was blanked from the intake that goes to the same thing.
We also used the sensor that was plugged in to the M50 inlet mani - rather than changing to the other one, would that make any odds?
