thought this may be of interest so someone !- strpped down to bare essentials prior to transplant into a classic car currently doing 12-16 mpg. not affordable !
Fusebox - thats all you need to leave for the engine management system, fuel pump etc. Engine starts/ runs/ drives fine. 4 fuses and from memory 2 relays.
Interior thats the green/ yellow ews box in the background key and ingition sensor collar securely taped together. Car can now be started with a screwdriver- or more importanly the ignition can be grafted onto its new ignition lock- a classic car. not many wires left coming from the ews module.
few wires left running to the instrument cluster- these will go and new temp/ revs/ battery sensors/ clocks will be fitted (old fashioned smiths) in the next car.
Access to gearbox and propshaft ? just remove most of the transmission tunnel with a grinder ! all bolts and fittings now accessible.
If anyone was sad enough to want to know which colour wires remain connected (someone was asking about transplanting engines into rangerovers?) I will check, and report back. MOT would be a challenge ! but starts, stops, accelerates fine!
