I thought the bulbs needed replacing but there are no external bulbs.

How are they lit and how can I replace them?

    2. I also have a lot of bulb holders missing for the warning lights.

Should all of the spaces where the bulb holders go have bulbs in place or are some left empty from new?
There are a lot of bulb left out from the factory mate.
Ill run out in a bit and check my service lights, but ive got a feeling the yellow and red dont light up till the service is due

Fantastic. I don't have to worry about them being faulty.
    Thanks for checking.

I have been shining a torch light up into the holes in the dash where there are no bulb holders to see the symbols and my finding are below. Don't know if you can help with these at all.

I have no bulb holder or bulbs in the following symbols along the bottom of the clocks.

    ASC+T – I don’t have this.

Turn signal – mine uses left and right next to the rev and Speedo instead.

    Automatic transmission – I don’t have this.

Rollover protection – (Should I have a bulb her) I don’t know what this is?

Engine check - (Should I have a bulb here)?

There is a squiggly line symbol – (Should I have a bulb her) I don’t know what this is?

There's what looks like a pencil with 4 lines of 4 dashes coming from the end - (Should I have a bulb her) I don’t know what this is?

Then there is what looks like a =[ ]= with 3 wavy lines above the centre - (Should I have a bulb her) I don’t know what this is?

Thats fine mate. Its as it should be.
I did mine a few weeks ago when i replaced the fog light tell tail and checked the same thing. Some of the empty holes are for the euro/american market so are N/A to UK cars

Ronnie. Had a look on that web site and there are a couple of bulbs I would like to check out. It looks like there are two bulb holders that should be in place that are not.

Can anyone confirm if these are used or not in UK BMW's on a 1995 E36 320i?

    1. Check-engine warning light.

    2. Catalytic converter warning.

    Thanks

steve23002. My friend is doing my head in.
I told him that all my missing bulb holders are correct and should not be in place. He has had a BMW before and this is my first.
He says he's sure that the Check-engine warning light and the Catalytic converter warning lights were lit in his BMW and should be in mine.

I have spent the morning looking and the only BMW E36 I can see that had the Check-engine warning light fitted is in the USA and not here in the UK. I can't find anything on the Catalytic converter warning light.
    Is this correct?
