    hi i'm new here,

    hope someone can help my on board computer more often than not says 'brake light failure' when i check my lights they only sometimes work when this warning is showing, sometimes there's a delay and other times theres nothing. i've checked the obvious. fuse, bulbs, switch.

    If its an E36, it is quite likely there is some corrosion in the bulb holders in the boot.
    REmove the bulbs and inpsect the holder units.
    Also ensure you are using the correct type of bulbs...


    If those things dont fix it its probably the brake light switch needs replacing

    Very likely brake light switch, but check the bulbs like Boostist mentioned.
