I've just noticed that the fan behind the radiator turns on even when the engine is stone cold. During driving the temperature gauge is registering in the middle so all good.

Is this normal as I haven't been able on the web the expected operation of the fan? I would have thought that the fan would only come on if the temperature was running higher than normal! I.e sitting in a traffic jam

    TIA

Viscous fan is always on from when you start the car.
Unless you remove the viscous and put in an electric fan wired to a switch like I have.

Thanks John. I've not had it long and I'm waiting for the Haynes manual and an owners handbook off eBay'

As long as it is working as it should then that's fine!
