I don't necessarily mean it should be black, just that the diagram shows that the relay should be in the position shown

That's good it's sorted. Relays are not expensive but you should get one from a scrappy

Hello, sorry but i'm going to have to awaken this thread.

I have the same problem in my 1996 328i, fogs used to work, and now dont.

Fuse 22 was blown, replaced it but no luck
Getting power from main headlight switch and fog light switch.
    Getting power from fuse 22.
From the relay base, getting power from 86.
Swapped relay with the one next to it as they are the same and no difference at all, i can hear it working when i switch on the fogs.

Jumped the middle pin on the relay base with the one on the right (86 i think) and it turned 1 fog on permanently. (im guessing the other has a blown bulb)

I dont know what else to check.... the one blown bulb doesnt stop the other from working and the light appearing on the dash does it?!

    Thanks for any help....
    Rob.

Is there +12v at pin 30 on the relay
Check fuse 15 although it does come downstream of the relay

The relay has a pin 30, pin 85, pin 86 and pin 87.

    I had +12v at 30, 86 and 87. Pin 85 had nothing.

I tested to see if fuse 15 had burnt out, and it had not, but i havn't checked to see if it has power when all is switched on.
