I recently bought a wrecked 1994 325i convertible. The wreck is no problem as I am a collision shop owner, but the convertible top is giving me fits. Both motors have been removed and tested and both work perfectly. But the motors will not operate with the switch. I know there are certain protocol that must be followed but I am not sure if it's something as easy as a micro switch, or a closed trunk, or a fuse, or a relay. I have done this:

    1- motors are engaged fully
    2- trunk is closed
3- semi automatic top is released from the windscreen
    4- key is on

Does anyone know if there are any other procedures that must be followed? I know the procedure for synching the motors and have also tried to get it to work starting from the "top down" position. There does not seem to be power to the switch. All the proper fuses are good. I can't locate a relay for the top. Could that be it? Maybe there is no power to the switch because of some other procedure that must be followed first? I am baffled! Please help!!

From what I can remember you need to put the hood away open position. Put ignition on dont start car and press the UP button and keep it pressed the lid should:rolleyes: firstly go down and then go up after its found its lid locked position. Thats how I had to resync on my previous 328. Leave your finger pressing the up position till its finished its thing.

    Tony.
