    Hi All

I'm looking at a 1999 E36 convertible for sale with a non-operating roof. I've done a search and found quite a bit of interesting information, but I appreciate any opinions on what the problem might be and how to fix it. The seller has given me this description:

I'm not too sure which motor needs replacing but last time I tried to open it electrically, the section at the back wouldn't open to receive the hood. At that time (approx. 18 months ago) it would open manually. Now when I try to open it elactrically nothing at all happens and the red light doesn't come on.

    Thank in advance!

    Rich

Before you start looking at replacing you need to re-synch the motors- there is a guide on youtube:

Once you have done that also check the fuse in the boot next to where the battery is, clean the connectors on it.

If they above fails then speak to me as I have a full set of motors for a convertible.

Thanks for that. I'm hopefully going to look at the car before the end of the week, so I'll let you know if i need some parts!
