    Hi guys i have recently bought a 2000 (X reg) 316i and i have a problem with the cigarette lighter! i have checked all the fuses and there is no problem with them but i still cant get any power to the lighter! any ideas how i can get this working as BMW want £50 +VAT to tell me what is wrong with it! Any help will be apreciated thanks in advance.

    have you checked the wiring? maybe one of the contact points is losse/not connected? if the fuse is ok take an electrical tester and trace it backwards to the fuse to find out where its losing power

    Fuse is no. 47 in glovebox. Don't think there are any connections in between the fuse and the lighter, so, as mentioned above check for power at the lighter itself and if there is 12v there then you probably need a new one
