    Good evening all,

I want to buy a good fault code reader with a reset option for my 2004 BMW 320D (E46) auto. The problem is that there are so many to choose from!!

    The two front runners are:

    a) BMW ABS Diagnostic Scan & Reset Fault Code Reader / Scanner Tool - iCarsoft i910 (Priced around the £95 mark)[/B]

    b) Peake Research BMW Engine Code Tool 2001 to 2007 (R5-FCX3-16) (Priced around the £85 mark)

Firstly can anyone tell me if my car is Condition Based Service (CBS) as I believe the Peake option cannot reset CBS? Secondly are any of the 'apps' for Iphone a suitable option?

My budget is up to £200 so any advice is appreciated!!

    Regards,

    Milly

    Cheers Lee,

Would you say that using a laptop is better than a specific reader?

    Regards,

    Milly

INPA is bmw specific software so it is better than a generic reader, also will give you live diagnostics when plugged into your car

peak research will only connect to engine no other modules on the car, generic will not connnect to anything on a BMW diesel...INPA will give full BMW specific connection to all modules...

An idiots guide to BMW INPA installation with a modded USB Vagcom interface for WinXP and Vista...
330i sport a big chunk of berlin...

    Cheers guys!!

I've just bought an OBD2 cable and copies of INPA from EBay; a lot cheaper than the readers!! I've got an old laptop so hopefully Robert's your mother's brother!"! ;-)
