    hi first off forgive me if this is posted in the wrong section i am new to the forum .. i recently bought a bmw 316 salloon year 2000 and i am having some electrical issues that i need some help with please.. firstly the handbrake light is staying on even when the handbrake is released it is lighting up red and stays illuminated on the dash .... second problem the chime to warn you that you have left your lights on gives no warning sound and as you can imagine i have left them on a few times to return to a flat battery also the drivers door sensor as in to warn you the drivers door is open isnt working where as all the others light up on the dash when there open and finally my electric window switches in the front stay light up at all times even when i lock the car they stay on all the time any help with any of the above issus would be great help thanks or also could all of these problems link into 1 culprate thanks again

    The handbrake light I would imagine is just the switch, take the gaiter off and wiggle it about a bit. If not it would be pennies from a breakers.
    Others not so sure, but a poke around the fuse box is always a good start.

    i did that yesterday before i posted this regarding the switch on the handbrake in fact the switch looks like somebody made an attemt to fix it before and even when i manually release the switch no light or sound or nothing the light stays on the dash so my next port of call will be the fuse boxes cheers
