Due to the poor lighting comming from my e60 head lights i decided to replace the dipped beam with some HID's. I got the kit from HID4U as this is where i get all my hid kits from as i know what i am getting and there will be no faults or errors on the dash.

    HOW TO Guide

    Standered Head Light

To gain access to the engine bay, pull this leaver in the drivers foot well on the right hand side, this will pop the hood.

Undo the 4 bolts, 2 on top and 2 at the bottom behind the lights. U dont have to compleatly remove the bottom 2, just enough to slide the head light away.

Then remove the rubber strip going across the front of the car, and undo the front of the bumper at each end, this is to help with removing the head lights

Unplug and remove the head light

Once the head light has been removed, twist of the rear cover, and drill a large hole in the back, this is for the rubber seal that comes with the lights.

Now,,, Find a sutable place to mount the ballest tank, i usde the support beam at the back of the head light, dry, out of the way, Ideal position

Fit the HID bulbs using the mounting clips that u need to buy with the HID kit and wire every thing up

Now, after you have fitted the bulbs, pluged the wiring and then re-fitted the head light its time to turn on the light and look at your new brightness

    Xenon HID Headlight Upgrade Kits from HIDS 4U - H7, H4, H1

And the w5w LED bulbs are hear, error free and 12v 2w, not as bright as i want them but its progress

    Good guide Steve,

Worth mentioning that under the new MOT rules they will fail as they don't have self levelling and headlight washers fitted.

what is the cut off like Steve - Bi-Xenons have a very focused beam, but our headlights are not projector ???

I love the amount of light being produced but to my eye it looks as if they may dazzle oncoming traffic - thank you for sharing - but not one for me mate.

i have been looking at Osram nightbreakers and those 5w LED bulbs you mention

Great guide Steve but I would be worried about falling foul of the MOT guy. 530kam Osram nightbreakers are the mutts - fit and forget - lot brighter and whiter than stock, I have the 5w LED bulbs but keep getting errors, I have used the free 'blue coloured' ones that came free with my Osrams, not the brightest but definitely an improvement over stock as they give off a white light and not a yellow/oranges cast of the stock.
